Vacation...Lake Barkley/ And Some Analyzation For You

We took a long weekend and celebrated the 4th at Lake Barkley this year!  Gabby's godfather, Teddy
(aka., Uncle Teddy), has three lake houses on the lake and we were very lucky to be invited to stay in one of the houses!  The grounds were beautiful!
We were all very close to each other all weekend and enjoyed each other's company so much!  We thank God for wonderful friends like the Bertuca family and feel fortunate to have them in our lives!

We enjoyed boat rides on the Sea Ray and the Pontoon!
Gabby is rough around every little edge of her body and LOVES danger zones.  She had no problem with high speeds in the boat and the waves we rocked!  She even busted out some dance moves during one of the rides that made us all laugh!

she loves everything her daddy does!
Daddy and Gabby did a little fishing which is always so much fun for the both of them.

I joined them...but enjoyed sitting on the dock and watching them.  Fishing sometimes is my sport, but usually I am ready to throw in the towel after 30 minutes of so.
sunsets are beautiful here!

We traveled to a Eddieville on the lake to watch the fireworks on Sunday night.  Of course we weren't close enough for Gabby's liking...ha!  She would have crawled up on the hill and helped the men light the fireworks if she would have had the opportunity to.

We went to antique and craft stores one afternoon.
The town of Cadiz, KY is lined with pig statues?
They are in front of every store(even the police station...in which the pig was dressed as a police officer...I thought that was funny;).  Gabby had a great time trying them out!

The rest of the vacation was spent relaxing and enjoying time with my sweet family and wonderful friends.

Gabby was mostly her adorable, bubbly and goofy self...
And at other times she was not...

Overall, we had such a wonderful time and hope to be able to do it again!

We headed home on Tuesday.  Gabby did a great job in the car as we traveled.  While she napped(because I want my child having no part of knowing about this trial at such a young age), Jeff and I listened to the verdict of the Casey Anthony trial.  He thought she was going to be convicted on manslaughter and I thought, honestly, Murder 1 or Murder 2.  After our stomachs were sick that she "walked" with fines that she only has to pay reimbursements of 20.00 a month, but will have a million dollar book deal by this Sunday and get another 200,000 for picture rights by next Tuesday and what?...a 7 day jail sentence, we arrived "home sweet home".   I know that was a MAJOR run on sentence, however, can you all tell I am bitter about this topic and HER?  Oh well...after this post you will NEVER hear me talk about this case again...on Blogger.

I have caught myself analyzing my life these past couple of months.  I am so thankful for my sweet baby girl
and all of the memories we make together.
I couldn't imagine my life without her.  With that being said, it is so easy to get frustrated with life's burdens and chaotic situations. Like when the library lady looks at you as if she is sending you death threats because your child is running around the library screaming, "it's a great day in the neighborhood" in the completely wrong side of the library where elders are reading newspapers(in peace).  Oh...and the"kind" lady at Michael's today that said to me, "hee hee...she is spirited".  Holy cow, I know she was meaning, wowzers you have your hands full.  Hey, we picked up the fifteen sets of coloring books and markers that were thrown through the isle.  I know that my child is loud, is defiant, screams when she is told she has to leave a store or the library, etc, throws toys, hits me at times, yells, "i don't like you anymore" and "you are not my best friend" about three times per week.  Aren't a lot of children?  If you say no, then visit your local park, pool or fast food restaurant(with a play area) and get back with me... :)

However, after each and every day, whether good or bad, defiant or not, I continue to rest at night and thank God for my blessings.  Because in Gabby's little body is a beautiful little girl that is so loving, so smart, so sweet.  She is "three" and if you have ever spent a lot of time around a child or parented you should know that "three" is the new two and four and five and so on....yikes!
However, it is these little or MAJOR things sometimes in life that we experience or that we see and hear in the media(thank you Ms. Anthony)that make me stop, breathe and remember how much I love my babie(s), family and friends.  I am thankful for the support I am given when needed so that I can re-group or re-charge rather.  It makes a difference doesn't it?

Have A Great Week Everyone!

xoxo and "spirited",
Katie

  1. I hope I'm not the librarian you're talking about! lol, I giggle whenever I hear a kid scream, start crying, or starts running around because my heart goes out to the mom or dad, and they're kids! Let kids be kids. :o) Sorry you had bad looks :( I just hope I don't become that librarian!

By the way, I love the picture of Jeff and Gabby walking together, and Jeff carrying a pink tackle box lol. What an awesome dad!
